Quality & safety
Safety is a process, not a certificate
Quality comes from the decisions you make and record throughout the entire route — from ingredient supplier to the final certificate of analysis.
Our method
What we watch
Supplier qualification
Ingredient suppliers are assessed on specifications, certificates of analysis, origin documentation and consistency between deliveries.
Traceability
Ingredient batches can be traced back to the development batch concerned, so that any deviation can be investigated precisely.
Batch analysis
Development batches are analysed on relevant parameters, including composition and microbiological safety.
Working to HACCP principles
Risks are systematically identified and controlled using the HACCP methodology customary in the animal feed sector.
Documentation
Every development step is recorded, so decisions remain traceable years later.
Regulatory compliance
Formulations and proposed labels are checked against the applicable European framework for feed and feed additives.
Legal framework
The rules we work within
Animal feed in the European Union falls under an extensive body of legislation. The frameworks most decisive for our work are:
- Regulation (EC) No 178/2002
- The General Food Law, setting out the basic principles of food and feed safety and traceability.
- Regulation (EC) No 767/2009
- Rules on the placing on the market and use of feed, including requirements for labelling and claims.
- Regulation (EC) No 1831/2003
- The framework for additives in animal nutrition, including the authorisation procedure per additive.
- Regulation (EC) No 183/2005
- Requirements for feed hygiene across the chain, including the HACCP methodology.
This list is informative and not exhaustive. Exactly which rules apply depends on the product, its composition and the country in which it is placed on the market. Our partners remain responsible for compliance in their own market.
